Lou Reed, Hot water bottles and Cuddly tigers...

Okay; so last night I posted,'Am I the only one who has a minor meltdown when the clocks change? Just have to face it, winter is on its way... shorter days-longer nights...I will just have to look on the bright side...which is?! Well one example could be: 'Am in bed at 9pm with my duvet-hot water bottle and Lou Reed..that's the bright side'- I was grooving along to Lou Reed, reading, and even decided to name my cuddly tiger (He also just happens to wear a red Che Guevara T-shirt!He's a pretty cool tiger)'Lou' after the man himself-ALL THIS AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE HAD PASSED AWAY! I began to get mildly spooked when I suddenly noticed on certain social networking sites that EVERYONE was also listening to Mr Reed( Yeah-I'm occasionally a bit slow on the uptake) I have to admit that I don't listen to him regularly but there are classic tracks of his and The Velvet Underground that occasionally just have to be listened to whilst they transport you to another realm... I am probably one of the few people left on the planet who still has a cassette player in their car which limits me at times to revisiting all my old 80's and 90's mix tapes-some of which are brilliant if I may say so myself ;)-Anyway, I digress, I just happened to be listening to one of these great comps the other day-tracks off the 'TRAINSPOTTING' soundtrack-one of which was Lou Reed,'Perfect day' which I see as the 'perfect' track to wish him a fond farewell and journey to the other side. Death of course awaits us all-but I guess too for those of us whose parents are of Lou's generation it is a subtle reminder of our parents mortality (those of us who are still lucky enough to have them with us)and the fact that slowly but surely the many great great musicians of that exceptional era are leaving us... Right-back to listening to the great music of times gone and back to my novel...
